Let’s Start a Conversation
Whether you’re approaching retirement or planning your business exit, we understand choosing a financial advisor is a big decision.
Our 3-Step Process Makes It Easy to See If We’re the Right Fit
Step 1:
15-Minute Initial Call (phone call)
A brief conversation to learn about your situation and answer your initial questions. No pitch, just a comfortable get-to-know-you call.
After this call, we’ll both know whether it makes sense to continue the conversation.
Step 2:
Let’s Dive Deeper
If there’s a potential fit, we’ll send details about our firm and how we work. We’ll also ask you to send us some information so we can review your financial situation before we meet.
This exchange helps us prepare for a productive conversation with clear next steps.
Step 3:
60-Minute Introductory Meeting (in-office or Zoom)
You’ll meet your advisor team, learn exactly how we work, and experience our “listening first” approach firsthand. We’ll discuss your goals, share our high-level thoughts on any issues we spot, walk through our process, and explain our fees with complete transparency.
Most people tell us they know by the end of this meeting whether we’re the right fit.
Make a Decision
Take whatever time you need to think things over. Choosing the right advisor is a big decision, and we don’t take it lightly either.
There’s never pressure to say “yes” immediately.
15-Minute Initial Call
A brief call to understand your situation and see if our expertise is a match
What to expect:
- We'll ask what's bringing you to us right now.
- You'll have a chance to ask initial questions about our approach.
- We'll discuss next steps if we mutually decide to move forward.
- No pitch. Just an honest conversation to see if we can help.
Our Focus
Pre-retirees and retirees (50+) who’ve built meaningful wealth, and business owners planning their transition
We do our best work with:
Pre-Retirees & Retirees
Age 50+, $1M+ of investable assets
You’ve built meaningful wealth and now face questions that need real answers: When can I retire? How do I create income? What about taxes and legacy?
Business Owners
$1M+ revenue and planning your exit
You’ve built a successful business and want strategic partners for your next steps.
We typically offer the most value to people with $1 million or more in investable assets (or who expect to reach that level in a few years) and who want a long-term financial partner, not a one-time transaction.
If this sounds like you, let’s talk.
Common Questions
How do you get paid? How is the fee charged?
We charge a transparent percentage of the assets we manage. Specifically, one-fourth of the annual fee is billed quarterly and deducted directly from the accounts we manage for you. You’ll understand exactly how we get paid before we ask you to make any decision.
I've had bad experiences with advisors before. How are you different?
We hear this often. Many clients came to us after working with advisors who were pushy, unresponsive, or made them feel like a number.
Two things set us apart:
We listen first. You’ll experience this from the very first conversation. We start by understanding what matters to you, not by pitching products. (We have no products to sell, just advice.)
We do comprehensive planning (not just investment management). Many people come to us after working with “investment-only” advisors. We cover investments, but also help you coordinate tax planning, estate planning, insurance review, lifetime income projections, and collaboration with your CPA and attorney. Your entire financial life, not just your portfolio.
Do you only work in Nebraska?
We’re Nebraska-based but serve clients in 30+ states. Most have a connection to Nebraska or the Midwest and appreciate our Midwestern approach to service.
What if I'm not sure I'm ready for a financial advisor?
That’s completely fine. Our initial conversation is simply to explore whether working together makes sense. No commitment to move forward.
And here’s a commitment we make to every client: if you ever feel we’re not adding sufficient value, you can leave at any time and only pay for the time we’ve served you. No back-end fees, no penalties. It’s a lot easier to say “yes” when you know you can say “no” at any point.
How often do we meet each year?
We meet with each client at least once per year for a comprehensive review. For clients who qualify for full financial planning, we typically do a financial planning meeting in the spring and a tax planning discussion in the fall.
Between meetings, we’re always working in the background, reaching out proactively with anything important. You’ll receive weekly market commentary and timely reminders (IRA contributions, RMDs, tax deadlines). And our team is always available by phone or email when questions come up.
What credentials do your advisors have?
Many of our advisors hold CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) designations and are legally bound fiduciaries. Michael Johnson also has a law degree and background in estate planning. We’re registered with the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission), and you can review our background here.
Do I need a local financial advisor, or can I work with someone remotely?
We’re Nebraska-based but serve clients in 30+ states. Most of our clients appreciate having a team they can meet in person when it matters, with the flexibility to do virtual meetings when that’s more convenient. The relationship matters more than the geography.
